Mirrah Foulkes' I am Sybil is an upcoming movie that will explore the true story behind the best-selling book and cultural-sensation case of Sybil, one of the first mainstream cases of dissociative identity disorder (or multiple personality disorder, as it was then known), which spurred questions in the public consciousness around identity and mental health. The story will star Elle Fanning as Shirley Mason (also known as Sybil) and Sarah Paulson as Connie Wilbur, her psychiatrist.
Based on the synopsis, I decided to create this poster as a personal project using photos of the main actresses and merging them with drawing lines to encapsulate their characters. The colored ripped papers on Elle's face represent each one of Shirley's 16 known personalities, including the part in black and white.
